The Google Game: Where is N...

Where is New England?

New England is a geographical region comprising six states of the northeast United States: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

I've never been to any of these states. Got to go to Boston some day! Didn't I write that in another post?

Ever been to New England? Share below!

The Google Game: Where is M...

We are half way through the alphabet!

Where is Mount Everest?

Mount Everest, also known in Nepal as Sagarmāthā and in China as Chomolungma, is Earth's highest mtountain. Its peak is 8,848 metres (29,029 ft) above sea level. Mount Everest is in the Mahalangur Range. The international border between China (Tibet Autonomous Region) and Nepal runs across Everest's summit point.

Any avid climber I've ever asked about Everest says it has become just another "been thee, done that" spot for rich people. "Real climbers" don't go to destinations that are so "touristy"! Still would be a great place to see!

The Google Game: Where is L...

My fist result is...

Where is Letterkenny filmed?

This Canadian TV show is filmed just outside of Sudbury, Ontario. The show stars Jared Keeso and Nathan Dales as Wayne and Daryl, two friends living in the small town of Letterkenny, Ontario, a fictional community loosely based on Keeso's own hometown of Listowel, Ontario.

That's right, Listowel, town of my birth! I didn't even live there for a year, so I can't really claim It was my hometown. If you grew up rural, you will love this show. Even if you didn't, it's still pretty hilarious!

Please share if you've ever been to Sudbury, or Listowel, or if you just love this show!

The Google Game: Where is K...

Last time we had a person, not a place. Here we go again...

Where is Kellyanne Conway?

As far as I have researched, Conway is usually in the White House. Her official title is Counsellor to the POTUS, but she is also referred to as a senior advisor.

If this is a query that many people are Googling, I would guess that it refers more to what Conway is doing at the White House. The details of her role in the Trump Administration seems to be evolving and changing, as with many other members of the President's staff.

If you have heard something different, please share!

The Google Game: Where is J...

Gonna say right up front I was quite surprised by this one.

Where is Joffrey Lupul?

I will just summarize the situation. First of all, Lupul is a forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was injured in December of 2015 and had surgery for a sports hernia in February 2016. He was supposed to play again in the 2016-2017 season, but started the season on the Injury reserve list. Since September of 2016, there is very little news on him, despite the fact he still has one more year on his contract with the Leafs.

I have a good friend who follows NHL happenings who says, "He's in California snorting anything he can find." I couldn't find anything on the net to verify this claim. I only found one post, and not a reputable one, from April 2017, stating that Lupul is skating and staying in shape in his home town of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.  Bottom line is, he's basically disappeared and there are virtually no reports on his whereabouts or plans for the future.

Side note... This is our first result that has been about a person, not a place!

If you know what's going on with this guy, please share!

The Google Game: Where is I...

Will it be 3 universities in a row? My first result is...

Where is Iceland? (This is not a University)

Located in the North Atlantic Ocean, directly east of Greenland, Iceland is Europe's western most country, the second largest island in the North-Atlantic Ocean, and a little over 3 hours flight from London, Paris or Copenhagen.

Do people really Google Iceland more than any other place that starts with I? I mean, I love that people are on the quest for knowledge, I just assumed it was common knowledge.

Ok, so that may be a little precocious, but it's like a huge island country in the Atlantic. People know this, right? I guess if you don't know what's two states West of you there might be issues.

Please share any awesome Iceland stories you have!

My first result is...

Where is Harvard?

Nestled in Cambridge on the banks of the Charles River, Harvard is surrounded by one-of-a-kind shops, international restaurants, bookstores, cafés, and theatres.

Two universities in a row? I wonder if my result for Gonzaga yesterday affected my result today.

I would love to visit the campus of this Ivy League university.  Got to visit Boston some day!

Where is Gonzaga University?

502 E Boone Ave, Spokane, WA 99202, USA

Gonzaga University is a private, Roman Catholic university in Spokane, Washington, United States. Founded in 1887 by the Society of Jesus, it is one of 28 member institutions of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. It is named for the young Jesuit saint Aloysius Gonzaga.

I'm guessing a lot of people were wondering where Gonzaga was when their Men's basketball team made it to the NCAA championship this year.

The Google Game: Where is F...

The #1 Google search result for Where is F...

Where is Fiji?

Fiji is an island country in Melanesia in the South Pacific Ocean about 1,100 nautical miles northeast of New Zealand's North Island.

This was my favourite sentence:

"Fiji is the hub of the South West Pacific, midway between Vanuatu and Tonga."

Ok listen, I know that is likely the best was to describe where Fiji is geographically, but if you're reading that and don't know where Fiji is already, there's not a chance that knowing it's near Vanuatu and Tonga is going to help you out.

If you really do know where Fiji is, because you've been there, or you live there, please leave a comment!

The Google Game: Where is E...

Let's see where our next location is...

Where is Easter Island?

Easter Island is a Chilean island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeasternmost point of the Polynesian Triangle. Easter Island is famous for its 887 extant monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapa Nui people.

Unless I become a millionaire at some point, I don't expect I will ever visit here, but I'm sure it would be awesome. I know my kids would be pumped to go, with the popularity of Moana highlighting the culture of Polynesian people groups.

As a side note, the third result for "Where is E" was Edward Snowden. I guess people still want to know where that guy is.

Please share if you have ever visited this exotic travel destination!

Our result for today is...

Where is Dubai?

Dubai is the largest and most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf and is the capital of the Emirate of Dubai, one of the seven emirates that make up the country.

Dubai is a tourist hotspot right now and I have noticed several acquaintances posting recently about their visits to the region. This is definitely a city that I'm very interested in visiting.

Please comment if you have ever visited Dubai!

The Google Game: Where is C...

The last two results were European cites. Will this be the same?

Where is Cardinal filmed?

"It commenced production in Sudbury, Ontario in February 2016, with some additional location filming taking place in North Bay and Atikameksheng Anishnawbek."

I feel a bit embarrassed that I've never even heard of this show before. I guess I'm not up to speed on my CTV productions. Here's a brief description:

"Cardinal is a Canadian crime drama television series, which premiered January 25, 2017, on CTV. An adaptation of Giles Blunt's award-winning mystery novel Forty Words for Sorrow, the series stars Billy Campbell as John Cardinal and Karine Vanasse as Lise Delorme, detectives investigating the murder of a young girl in Algonquin Bay."

This also marks the first time that the #1 result was not a single geographical location.

My first result is...

Where is Brussels?

Brussels, officially the Brussels-Capital, is a region of Belgium comprising 19 municipalities, including the City of Brussels which is the capital of Belgium.

Another European location! I also think it's interesting to note that the next three results were also in Europe: Belgium, Bulgaria, and Bruges.

Admittedly, I don't know much about Brussels, but of course I would love to visit this fascinating country some time!

Please share your stories from Brussels, and don't forget to to try out the game for yourself and post you own results!

The Google Game: Where Is A...

Who hasn't played the Google Game? You just type in a letter and see what the first result is. I thought it would be interesting to go through and list my findings for you. I would also expect results will vary based on date, location, and trending topics. My first result is... Where is Amsterdam? Amsterdam is the capital city of the Netherlands, and this country is located in North-West Europe between Germany in the east, Belgium in the south, and the North Sea in the north and west. I'm a little surprised this is the first A result, but I would love to visit sometime! My parents have been and absolutely loved it! Please comment on your experiences in Amsterdam! Try searching for yourself and share your results! Have Fun!
